1990 Subaru Legacy check engine light

My check engine light is on and my car idles really bad and is lacking alot of power and also shakes when im going 45 - 50 mph I have changed the sprk plug wires but have yet to change the coils incase of a missfire but I dont know. Hoping you could help me out

Before purchasing anything else, have the computer scanned for codes. If the check engine light is on, the computer will have memory of where the problem is coming from. Take it to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan it. Most will do it for free, so there is no out of pocket expense.

Let me know what you find because this seems to be becoming a common problem.
