Last night when I was accelerating froma stop, my car hesitated and the RPM's went up to 4000 before the car started to move and the RPM's dropped down. It happened again before I got home. This morning I was driving the car and it was fine.

Is this a clutch problem and why is it intermitent?

Hi cilantro211,

It could be the clutch. It works intermittently because there is a pressure leak and if you accelerate hard, the clutch does not have time to engage fully resulting in the slippage.

You ought to check the ATF level and cdondition first. If the ATF filter is clogged, it might also cause the problem.

It could be the torque converter causing the problem too, so you need to test the line pressures to find out more.
