Electrical problem
1996 Subaru Impreza 4 cyl All Wheel Drive Manual 156K miles

1996 Impreza

2.2 liter

156,000 miles

Recently lots of rain, LOTS of rain

Literally, trunk became a small pool, could hear water sloshing around in the frame

Pulled rubber plug out of cavity in spare tire recess, water drained out

Drilled holes in underside of frame along door edge, water poured out

Reason for email:

Do not have tail lights. Fuse replaced, same size, new fuse does not blow

Connectors in the trunk, wet and dirty- they have been cleaned

Two fuses in fuse box under hood were blown, replaced w/same size, fuse for
light switch keeps burning out, very quickly, but, even then, do not have tail lights
for that short amount of time. – 10 to 15 seconds; and; fuse for dashboard lights is same fuse

Can anyone help

hi, it sounds like when the harnesses in the trunk got wet, one or several of the the wires were damaged, you will need to get an ohm meter and test each of the pins in the harnass for resistence, there should be very little resistence, if the resistence is high on any one of those wires it will need to be traced. I know this is not what I would want to have to go through
