After replacing the battery, the transmission will not shift out of park?

I drove home after replacing my battery at AutoZone. Next morning when to start the car, it would not shift out of park. I checked the brake lights and they are okay.

Well, if it is a security issue, you can try disconnecting one battery cable and touching it to the other one for about fifteen seconds. Then reconnect it and see if it does better.

If that is not it, check the fuses. I have attached a diagram of the fuse box. In particular, look at #24.

If that is not it, the most likely cause of the problem is the transmission shift interlock solenoid that locks and unlocks the shifter. It should be located in the steering column, next to the shifter.
