Transmission is stuck in fourth gear

Car starts fine and drives fine until it gets into 4th gear and then my traction control light and my service light come on at the same time and the car gets stuck in 4th gear. I don't know much about cars but any assistance before I take it to a mechanic would be great!

HI,

What needs to be done is to have the computer system (CAN) scanned for diagnostic trouble codes. CAN stands for controller area network, so it should identify anything related to a component failure.

That is where we need to start. If by any chance you have access to a scan tool, have that done and let me know what codes you have.
