I guess it depends on size if they were huge they may hit it, but it would do more tire damage than strut other than wear the paint off.

Pep Boy's installed 4x 235/55 r18 tires, when they should have installed 225/55 r18 tires, they also performed a four wheel alignment. As soon as I left the shop on my way home, I heard like a bang and then when I made both left and right turns I would hear like rubbing stress noises. I didn't have that problem before the install. Could they have damaged the struts with the tires, or perhaps maybe they damaged struts while performing the alignment. Is there anyway to check and see.

Take it to another shop and have them look it over your tires may be rubbing not so much the struts but the fender liners. The 235 is not that much larger than the 225as other specs are the same. It may have been a spring causing the bang from some unknown reason on my part as I can't check it.
