I just installed an aftermarket double din infotainment system on my vehicle. The factory radio came with about 4 or 5 harnesses that I disconnected. My aftermarket radio only came with 2. I installed everything and the radio works fantastic. Now thinking back of what I did, I just realized that the 3 extra harnesses from the factory radio, are still in there just loose. Should I have covered them up with electrical tape or are they fine just loose like that.
Also. I have a GPS plug atta6to a small box. How can I run the wire up to the dashboard where I can place this box or can I leave the box inside with the radio.

Hi,

In all honesty, if the harnesses are not being used, I would cover them with something to prevent anything from causing a short. I'm not sure which harnesses are not used at this point, but you don't want anything to short. I think it's a good safety precaution.

As far as the GPS, I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. Can you upload a picture of what you are working with and upload it for me to see?

Let me know.
Joe

This is the GPS unit. I believe the black box goes on the dashboard for the GPS signal to be strong. Now. Where can I run the wire to the dashboard of the vehicle. I managed to run a USB cable from the back of the unit up to the glove compartment on the passenger side. Can I do the same for this GPS unit and just leave it inside the glove compartment?

Hi,

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do that. As far as where it mounts, looking at it doesn't indicate there is a need for it to be in a specific place. Try that and let me know if it works for you.
