My car was running perfectly fine and then it started having the power steering fluid leak everywhere which that was all replaced. It was just a loose bolt. Then my car did this hard shift and went into limp mode and will not go past second year, but it also will not drop down to first gear it'll go to 2nd and 3rd and that's it. I have had the shift solenoids replaced in the transmission prior and just now we took them out again and cleaned them really good and check the wiring and it all seems to be okay but it's starting to do it again it will start out okay and then once it goes to the second gear maybe or third possibly I think it's 3rd it wants to do the hard jerk and then it goes into limp mode and whenever I come to a stop and try to accelerate again it's slow to accelerate and just will not go past third gear but it again it won't drop past second gear either. Now when I'm sitting in my car with my foot on the brake trying to run the gears through all the shifting it jerks with every shift area of the reverse from Park to reverse it will jump really hard to neutral it will not and then down when I shift from neutral to drive it does and then whenever I'm going back up it from drive to neutral to reverse and park it does not do the hard jerk as bad. If I go from Park and just drop it straight down to drive then it's smooth but whenever I go from gear to gear going from Park reverse neutral drive it jumps really hard. When I put it in manual mode it'll start out like I said accelerating a little bit slow and it stays in first gear that way and I can bump it up to 2nd gear but not third or fourth gear whenever I have it in manual mode. The codes that are coming up are p1529 p0720 and p0340 with the letters pd off to the side of it.

Hi,

The codes are related to both the transmission and a camshaft position sensor. The P0340 is the CMP sensor code.

As far as the P1529, that only indicates the transmission control module has requested the check engine light on. The P0720 is specific to the output speed sensor on the transmission and can cause it to go into limp mode.

I attached the diagnostics below. Take a look through them and let me know if you are comfortable performing them.

Let me know.

Joe

Thank you so much for your wonderful advice. I did replace the output speed sensor and it definitely 100% fixed the problem.
