Will start fine but shut off within a few seconds. Issue started suddenly yesterday. Have checked all fuses, replaced key fob battery, and unhooked battery for an hour to reset. Also inspected all associated wiring and connections and cannot find an issue. Recently performed a cosmetic repair on rear bumper, installed new wheel/tire on right front, and had an alignment. Issue started one day after all that. Any ideas?

How did you get this code, using a CAN scanner? That would be the only way for this code can you please double check it the code number because this will have nothing to do with the engine.

Code U1117 - Lost Communication with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) ECU.

usually with this kind of problem and engine will have a vacuum leak or the intake tube is loose or discounted so the MAF sensor is getting the wrong reading so I would check that as well, here is a video to help with the vacuum leak incase you want to give that a try.

2020 Rav4 2.5l gas with 50k. Suddenly began to start and soon shut off. Throwing code U1117. Have checked fuses, battery, and unhooked battery for an hour to allow reset. Recently had a cosmetic repair on rear bumper, new left front wheel/tire installed and had an alignment. Any ideas why this start and die issue is occurring?
