Turn over the key and it starts to turn over then quits and the “brake” light comes on on the instrument panel.

Will the engine eventually crank and start if you cycle the ignition switch enough times? When it does not crank, do you hear a single rather loud clunk from under the hood each time you turn the ignition switch to "crank"?
