I have an ongoing problem with my starter. About 5 months ago I tried starting it and it would not start. There was no sound or anything, but the lights would come on, I could push start it. The battery was checked; it is fine. The mechanic replaced my started then about 2 weeks later it died again, the mechanic then said the ignition was damaged, and it was replaced along with another new starter. It was fine until it started needing me to start it a few times before it would start until it eventually did not start anymore, again. I went back to the mechanic and this time they said the fuses were burned from the last time the ignition got damaged. They fixed it, but now it's a month later and the problem is starting again. I need to start it a few times before it actually starts, which means it will die again. Please help! I am considering changing mechanics, but I would also like some advice, so I'm not just putting all my trust in one mechanic. I got the car 6 months ago used, and it had, 64000 Kms on the clock and the old key so they problem may have been temporarily fixed when I got it, I am not sure.

Yep, it sounds like they are missing something, did they change out the starter relay when then did the starter? Also, it could be a defective starter as well. Can I ask if the security light is flashing when you try to crank the engine over?

Here is a video that can help us fix it:

It flashes for two seconds only. I’m not sure if they changed the started relay, I don’t recall them mentioning.

The first video is what it did after the first repair. The second video is what has been happening after I took it in the second time, and they replaced the ignition and my key and mobilizer.

In the first video it is definitely the starter motor. We would need to check to see if the starter is getting a signal to be sure, you can watch this video to help confirm the starter is defective:

Here is a guide so you can see how to do the test for the power to the trigger wire which will confirm the starter motor failure, or a bad connection at the starter.

Please go over this guide and get back to us.
