A couple of months ago my starter fuse had blown and I changed it out and it continued to work fine until yesterday when it blew again. I changed it again and it drove all the way up until tonight and it blew again. Now when I change it and go to crank my car it blows even after changing it numerous times.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.

Chances are the starter is bad and shorting out internally. If there was a continuous short, it would blow the fuse as soon as you install it (without trying to start). If you can get it to crank, most parts stores would be able to determine if the starter is drawing too many amps.

What I suggest is to disconnect the battery, remove the starter, and have it bench tested at a parts store. They will be able to tell you if there is a problem with the starter itself. Unfortunately, if it keeps blowing fuses, you won't be able to test it in the vehicle.

Here is a link that shows in general how to replace a starter:

Here are the directions specific to your vehicle for removal and replacement. The attached picture correlates with these directions. When removing it, inspect the wiring to make sure nothing has melted and may be shorting, specifically in this case, the smaller wire on the starter.

Removal and Installation

WARNING: When carrying out maintenance on the starting system, be aware that the heavy gauge leads are connected directly to the battery. Make sure the protective caps are in place when maintenance is completed.

1. Remove the battery tray.
2. Remove the starter motor solenoid wire nut and position the wire aside.
- To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).

3. Position the starter motor solenoid terminal battery cable cover aside.
4. Remove the starter motor solenoid battery cable nut and position aside the cable.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).

5. Remove the 2 starter motor bolts and the starter motor.
- To install, tighten to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft).

6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
