My car is stalling out randomly. The only engine code I am getting is a p0601 engine checksum error. Is there any way for me to find out what is causing it?

Basically there is an error being caused inside the PCM when it runs its internal testing, either a communication buss error or it is getting wrong data when it calculates the checksum validation code. If it happens while the engine is running it will act like the anti-theft turned on and shuts off the engine.
The only reliable repair is to replace the PCM.
They run about $200.00 for a new one online (Rock Auto) and whatever a shop or dealer would charge to reprogram it.
