Sputters and quits when driving

My car will often give out while accelerating and it almost always does when I am going uphill. I will have to give it a lot of gas and try to keep it going. Sometimes it will give out completely and I will have to restart it. I have noticed only when it starts to give out that the check engine light will come on. It has had a new fuel pump and a fuel filter. If anyone knows what could be wrong with it please tell me what it could be.

It still sounds fuel related. Have you scanned the computer to see what trouble codes are present?

This is applicable even if your check engine light is not on.

Most scanners are inexpensive to purchase, you can purchase one online from sites like Amazon.com
