Sputtering, backfire, lack of power

My vehicle has an issue that occurs when engine is first started; it has a rough idle, and seems to surge. This problem only exists at start up and pulling away from a stop, it seems to clear and run smooth after the transmission shifts into third gear.

These have a spider injector which the fuel pressure regulator goes out in dumping raw fuel into the engine. Please remove the upper intake and check the vacuum port of fuse at the regulator.

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.
