Speedometer needle taps against the fuel gauge housing when entering the truck. Does this twice then shuts off if the truck isn't started. Works fine when the truck is started. See video

Hi,

The video did not attach. I think I know what you are saying but seeing this would really help. Can you try and reattach the video? Thanks

What is the battery voltage with the engine off? If you don't have a volt meter, just stop by a parts store and let them test your battery. I have seen this before and we need to make sure the battery is good before we move on. Even if it starts the truck with no issue it could still be weak so let's just test it and go from there. Thanks

I can do that. I did charge it fully the other day with my large charger and it still did the ticking.

Good to know. Having it tested is still a good idea but I am sure it will pass. Then do what is called a capacitive discharge. This means you remove both battery cables completely from the battery and touch the cables together for 10 seconds. This will force all modules to reboot and hopefully it will straighten this out.

If that doesn't work then we will need to have the software of the cluster updated because there are corrections out there for cluster inaccuracies and malfunctions.

I am asking you to do these things because I am hoping to avoid replacing the cluster. If you have the replace it then you need to order it through the dealer and have it installed because the mileage and VIN are programmed into it. Let me know what happens with each of these and we can go from there. Thanks

Battery and alt both passed test. Volts were 12.54. No codes either. I will do what you suggested this morning. Thanks
