When I drive the car a check engine light comes on and D for the drive starts blinking. My friend power washed the engine that’s when it started acting up. After I drive it for a little bit everything goes back to normal working fine. Also, I’m not able to program the remotes. I had a locksmith try to program them and he couldn’t. He was able to program the keys but not the remote.

Hello,

Lets look at the vehicle speed sensor which is sounds like it has gone out. Here is the location and instructions on how to change it out. Check out the diagrams below try to use a OEM sensor.

Remove the air cleaner assembly (see AIR CLEANER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ) and the intake air duct.
Disconnect the CVT output shaft (driven pulley) speed sensor connector, then remove the CVT output shaft (driven pulley) speed sensor (A).

Install a new O-ring (B) on a new CVT output shaft (driven pulley) speed sensor, then install the CVT output shaft (driven pulley) speed sensor in the transmission housing.
Check the connector for rust, dirt, or oil, then connect the connector securely.
Install the air cleaner assembly (see AIR CLEANER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ) and the intake air duct.

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.
