They do have those inline spark testers that would be the easiest way.

Ok, never did get around to getting a spark tester for the coil over plug on #1 Coil with P0301 misfire. I am still confused as to why the truck runs fine from cold start up to operating temperature and then once shut off for 5 min and starting back up, rough idle and P0301 code produced.

With truck idling smooth and at operating temperature, I removed the electric connector to #1 fuel injector and the engine immediately started idling rough, put it back on and smoothed out. When engine is running rough, pulling the electrical connection to #1 injector has NO bearing on engine. I think something is up with #1 fuel injector.

Of course it won't number 1 isn't firing you do the same test by unplugging the coil. Swap the number one coil with another cylinder and see if the missfire follows.

Thanks for your help Saturntech9. I pretty much narrowed it down to fuel injector #1 and thus took it to Firestone. They confirmed it was #1 fuel injector by replacing it and the fuel filter. Truck is running 100% again.
