Possible slave cylinder isssue?

Won't go into gear when ignition is on but will when off.

Hi,

It is likely either the slave cylinder, as you mentioned, or the clutch master cylinder. Have you checked the brake fluid level to make sure it isn't low? The brake master cylinder is what supplies hydraulic fluid to the clutch master cylinder. See pic below.

Also, is there anything wet near the slave cylinder or clutch master cylinder on the firewall?

The clutch work done last year, they put a socket inside the slave cylinder to disengage the clutch as an extension. Which after about 6 months got lodged over to one side of the inside of the slave cylinder.
