2004 Skoda Octavia warning light on dash shaped like an eng

Hi I just picked the car from the dealers today as it had a light on the dash shaped like an engine they said that they could not fix the problem because the car has a modified dump valve fitted and is not coverd by the warrantry they said the engine had a number of fault codes and they just turned them off anyway will this be ok as they would not let me speak to the technichan instead I got a women who had no idea

You will have to wait till the light comes back on and have the cars computer read again if they will not tell you the codes !
