Shut off while idling

While was stopped it shut off didn't want to start had juice because lights and everything electrical works. got it started by tapping on starter, so I know starter is going out. but what would make it shut off of the blue while it's running.

You are correct about the starter and I attached the process on how to replace that below.

As for the shutting off, that could be a number of things that are not related to the starter. Here is a guide that will get us started:

The important thing that we need to know is if this happens again. If it doesn't then I doubt we will be able to figure this out with out more to go on. So let's check for codes and go from there.
