Should I stay away from this powerstroke?

I can’t remember if you guys diagnosed diesel's or not. I’m thinking about buying this 6.0 power stroke from a guy who bought it at an auction. He says that number six cylinder needs the injector replaced and that’s all he knows about it. The truck runs, but is blowing out white smoke. I hooked up my scanner to it, and I was able to pull these codes (pic attached). He is asking $3,500 for the truck. Do you think that this truck has more problems than is worth fixing? Or what would be your thoughts?

Wow, a lot is going on here. As far as the white smoke, it could be coolant mixing in the combustion chamber. Also, there are codes related to all glow plugs, can communication, under boost issues, and the list goes on. The only thing I don't see is if the injector he indicated needs to be replaced.

I guess I have to ask myself a question. The truck's value is much higher than what he wants. So, if it only needs an injector, why is he selling it at this price? Even in fair condition with mechanical issues average value is close to 10 K. See pic below from KBB. Com

In this case, buyer beware. I think there is more than what you are seeing.

Yeah, I think you’re right, I don’t think the guy is being truly transparent.

At the top of one of those pictures I attached it says something about cylinder number six and then the guy mentioned that number six injector needed replaced. But who knows if he is telling the truth. Maybe cylinder number six has no compression?

Let’s say that the engine is shot on this truck. Would it still be worth what he is asking?

It depends how nice the truck is, if it is in good condition you might want to consider it since new trucks are a small fortune. I would call around and see how much a new engine is installed.
