Running rough, misfire, hesitates at take off. Computer reads cam position sensor faulty. Should I buy a cam position sensor?

Hi,

The cam sensor can certainly cause the symptoms. If that is the code indicated, chances are it is the problem. Here are the directions or replacement. The attached pic correlates with the directions.

Vehicle Powertrain Management Sensors and Switches - Powertrain Management Sensors and Switches - Computers and Control Systems Camshaft Position Sensor Service and Repair Procedures
PROCEDURES
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect electrical connector.
3. Remove mounting bolts.

4. Remove sensor from the cylinder head.

INSTALLATION
1. Install camshaft position sensor into cylinder head.
2. Install and tighten mounting bolts.
3. Connect electrical connector.
4. Connect negative battery cable.
