Shifter stays stuck in park even after pressing the brake and turning off the car. Doesn’t happen all the time happens randomly but it’s happening more and more as time keeps going.

Hi,

The shift lock solenoid is powered by the brake lamp switch. When it won't shift, see if the brake lights are working. Do this first.

If they are working, take a look through this link and let me know if anything helps:

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

take care,

joe

The brake lights work and my shifter will only move when I press the shift lock with a flat head.

Hi,

I attached the diagnostics for the shift lock system below. Take a look through them and let me know if you are comfortable performing them.

Please let me know if you have questions or if I can help in any way,

Take care,

Joe

See pics below. Note: The first couple of things are checking the brake lights. Sorry, it was part of the set. I realize you already have done that.
