Shaking

Slight rattle when I lock the wheel to the left, and a shake coming from the left hand side in an 2002 Passat petrol

Check the ball joints and control arms for play, see how much you can turn the wheel back and forth before the tires move. If there is a lot of play the steering will move before the tires do. Also check the inner fender well for any loose plastic that is hitting the tire when fully locked.
