Replaced alternator and can’t get serpentine belt to tighten back up.

Welcome to 2CarPros.
First, confirm the belt is properly routed. See pictures 1 and 2.
If it is routed correctly and the belt is the correct one, suspect the belt tensioner is bad or the pulley on the new part is different.

Belts are routed properly but still can’t get proper tension.

Welcome back:
If it is, then it can be one of three things. Either the belt is too long (if it's new), the pulley on the new alternator isn't the same diameter, or the tensioner is bad. Can you check the pulley size and let me know if the belt is new?
