Everything I have indicates the vehicle didn't come without A/C. Are you bypassing the compressor?
If you look at picture 1, it shows the only diagram in the manual. I also tried looking up parts, and nothing is available for one without A/C. So, I went back a year thinking it was an early production vehicle. If you look at picture 2, that is what they show. Is that the design you have? One last thing, take a look through this link. It shows several possible diagrams which are for an 2002. The 2003 only shows A/C.
