Serpentine belt broke due to the A/C compressor seizing up. Can I bypass the A/C with a different belt?

Just my opinion, get a bypass pulley. I did look at your belt routing for a 3.8L. I cannot see how a shorter belt would work? The bypass pulley costs more than a belt, but, it will work, and you can use the same belt. Talk to you local auto store.
