I recently had to have my alternator replaced and also got my plugs and wires replaced at the same time. As the mechanic was showing me his work, I happened to notice that the hose connecting to the 90 degree fuel rail supply was split. I asked the mechanic if that was an issue of concern and he was dismissive, saying it wasn't and that I should just monitor it to make sure the crack does not get worse. I took him at his word and left it at that, but something about the whole interaction has not sit right with me.

I have continued to monitor it and there is no further expansion of the crack. The area around the connector is dry, no evidence of any leakage, and no odors of gas. But I'm still concerned about it. Should I have it repaired ASAP? Or could I band-aid fix it with something like a worm gear clamp at the end of the connector as a safety net?

Advice greatly appreciated, thank you.

Good afternoon,

That is a fire hazard and must be dealt with right away. That hose can separate at anytime and will cause a fire.

Replace that hose now before you have a real fire issue.

He gave you very bad advice.

Hello, I'm Danny.

Having any type of fuel or gas vapor leak should always be taken serious for possible fire or explosion. Just curious first. How much slack is there left in that line? I say this because I would suggest if there is enough line you can cut where the crack ends and re attach back on back on the coupler end.I re attached your picture and circled in red where to cut and re attach. This would save getting a new line all together. Let me know. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
