Hello,

The seat belt light intermittently comes on when the seat belt receptor is connected. It may flash and I hear the "tone" for a few seconds, then goes away.

Should the receptor be replaced or is there something else I should look into?

The receptor was replaced about 5 years ago.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Roosevelt.

Sure, this can happen when the passenger side seat has something on it or the seat sensor is getting weak and thinks there is someone sitting in the seat. I would connect the passengers seat belt to see if the problem goes away. Please let me know.

Thanks for your reply. I forgot to mention that the tone is on the driver's side when I'm driving.

Does this change the diagnosis?

Thanks, Roosevelt

Yes, it does, so there is a switch inside the buckle that is bad which makes the waring light/chime come on. You will need to replace the buckle to fix the problem. I would check ebay.

Thanks, I've found a universal fit on eBay, I guess this will work.

I'm concerned because it's low priced but it's a new part.

Thanks Ken,

I have the replacement buckle. The connector needs to be changed, other than that it seems to be the same. It should work.

Thanks again for your help.

Roosevelt.
