I had the code p0731 come up on my car which means gear ratio 1 incorrect what does that mean and what can I do to correct the problem. The car seems to shift fine except when you need to accelerate and the car need to down shift but only when you are about 35mph and over. When it goes to shift it hesitates and then jurks really hard when it does down shift.

On a code like that u would check the transmission actuators to see if they all buzzed loudly. Check min and max transmission pressure a step pressure test. Also air check all the clutch packs make sure all the pistions make sure there all holding pressure. On that year and model u could also have a loose input shaft nut pretty common and I have seen it cause that code the nut sits right againist the first gear clutch pack. As u can tell by my response that u need to have it checked out by a pro.
