My car has recently been developing a few problems that I think are transmission issues.

1. About 50% of the time, when I shift into reverse, the car pauses, then slams into gear.

2. Especially in the lower gears, I get a humming or light buzzing sound (as if something is spinning very fast.) The "speed" of the hum changes as I switch gears.

3. The car seems to stay in the lower gears longer now. This is most noticeable when I have just started driving the car (before it warms up) and when I am going up hills.

Am I correct that this is a transmission issue? Is it likely that I will need to get a new transmission? What is the cost of this likely to be?

Hi Yes you are right these are trans issues.I would have trans scanned and tested by a trans shop.

This will tell you how severe the damage is and if caught in time may be the diff in a repair or a new trans.

If it needs rebuilt you are looking at min 1400. If it goes on and breaks something and you have to get a whole new trans. Maybe 3000. So it is best to find out now before the real damage get's here
