I think my ignition swich is messed up because I put my key into the ignition and turned it and the dash lights came on and the gages worked but when I tried t start it it wouldnt do anything

I doubt it's the switch they hardly ever go bad most likely it's your starter. The first thing you need to do is check and make sure the battery cable's are clean and tight then make sure your battery test's good. Do you have a multimeter?That way we can trace the problem down.
