1997 Saturn SC2 Manual

I have a 97 Saturn SC2 with 182k miles (massive oil leak, I add constantly).

Last night I was driving, and when I went to shift into third gear, my gear shift turned into jello. No sense of gears, just flops around as you touch it. I ripped the leather off to see if I could see anything, and just a ball conected to some sort of mounting. I could see nothing amiss.

My car was towed to a "local sercive station" and I don't know what I'm facing.

I have had no warning this would happen. It came out of nowhere, no sound, and when I push in the clutch it feels totally normal. I am broke and need to get to work.

Go fill it up with gas and pop a via_gra in the gas tank. Haha, But no really, if you take apart your middle console unplugging the windows and everything, you can get a look. Right at the shift linkage there is a joint where the shifter meets the shifter cable, and right there at that joint is your problem, you had a little plastic bushing break. DO NOT take it to anyone to get it fixed. Look on ebay for a saturn sc2 bushing replacement for like 10 bucks, because your going to pay 300 anywhere else just to put in a new cable just because you broke a 10 cent bushing.
