1997 Saturn SC1, 55K miles: In the last couple months I've noticed that when I put on the breaks at speeds over 30 MPH, my steering wheel starts to vibrate or shake. What's causing this and how much will it cost to fix it?

Sounds like you may have a warped brake rotor or two, or three, or even four.

Prices can vary greratly depending on what part of the world you are in and what actually needs repaired or replaced.

Rotors can be trued on a brake lathe if they are thick enough for under $10.00 US apiece. They can be purchased (aftermarket) for under $30.00 each in my neck of the woods. Labor should be similiar to having the brakes pads replaced.

God luck and let us know. :)

I forgot to mention that you should always have the steering and suspension components checked during a brake service. A lot of places will do this free of charge or for a very small fee. Always a good safety measure, for sure.
