Saturn Electrical Issue

Recently the 'Battery Discharge' light came on in my 96 Saturn SL2, 1.9L, 160,000 miles. Being a novice mechanic, I started by replacing the belt, then the battery, then the cables, and then the alternator. Still the lights comes on after a few minutes of running. I'm not sure there is anything left to replace, am I missing something? Thanks

Hey italia,
Check your owners manual carefully as to the meaning of that light. If I remember correctly on my daughters 96 SC2 it could also mean low coolant!

Does the battery discharge while running? Does the alternator kick on?

Good luck and let us know. :)

The battery is showing between 13 and 14 volts while running, so I'm pretty sure it's charging. I haven't checked the coolant, though I don't know if I have the manual for it (I'm about the 15th owner.). Thanks for the tip though.
