Resetting my injectors

I was told by a local mechanic that when the battery goes dead in my 2002 Saturn SC-2 that the computer or somethin of the sorts needs reset so that the injectors will fire to start my car. The car turns over but will not stay running. It'll take the first pump of gas from the accelerator and jumps to 1000 rpms but will shut right back off again. Can anyone please help me.

We had this happen to a chevy and we fixed it by turning the key to the on position but not starting the car and let it sit like this for 2 minutes the shut off and the car started fine after this. They say that this will reset the computer
