Gurgling sound while accelerating

I have a Saturn SL -1 1997, automatic transmission, 1.9 L engine, with 139 K miles on it. Great car and runs smooth on interstate and performs well above 70 mph +. However, when I accelerate up on a slope, it produces gurgling sound from under the hood (more from the front passenger side) and goes through a temporary loss of power. Nothing serious, but nowadays I see this happening frequently. I love my car and does'nt want to part with it. Any suggestions?

Hey bay,

With the mileage on your satty I would say it is time for some maintence work. Plugs, wires, fuel injector cleaner (I like chevron with techron) in the gas tank, clean the throtle body and EGR valve, replace the PCV valve with an oem unit, and check the serpentine belt for cracks. What has been done and when?

I would also check the vacuum lines for leaks, brittleness or gumminess.

One often overlooked maintenece item is changing the tranny fluid and filter every 30,000 miles.. Use mobil 1 synthetic fluid for peak performance.

With proper maintenence you and your satty will have many more happy miles ahead.

Good luck and let us know. :)
