I have a 1999 Saturn sl. With 126118 miles on it. When I turn the steering wheel to the right I hear a sound that just wasn't there before I can also feel it. I was told that I needed to get new cv boots. What are cv boots and how can I tell if and when I need new ones

If you look behind the front tires you will see a shaft that turns the wheel. That is the cv shaft. On either side of the cv shaft there are rubber boots to protect the knuckle and to keep the grease in when the boot rips the knuckle more or less dries up and wears out much like a bad knee. If its ripped replace it.
