I took this car into town today and ended up driving about an hour. The outside temp was about 90 degrees so I was running the AC. I noticed that the ac blows cold air. However, when I change the Air direction control (the one that let's you choose defrost, floor, vents, etc.), nothing changes regardless of the setting. It seems I am getting strong air flow into the driver and passenger floor board, but very weak air coming out of the vents in the dash.

I took the front panel off and looked at the back of the AC controls, and the small cable moves fine.

What could be the matter?

Hey Ws,

Is the cable attached at the other end? That is where the actual changes to the air flow take place.

Good luck and let us know. :)

Hey pepper. I dunno. The cable seems to go into a black box that sits near the firewall. I do not know if the box is serviceable or not.

I believe the black box behind the console under the dash is called the Evaporator Housing. I have checked on the internet for specs, repairs and even replacements, and there is very little info about it aside from explanations of what it does. But nothing about how to fix or repair them. I guess this may be something I will need to take to an AC specialist.
