93 Saturn SC2 will not keep running

I, have a 1993 Saturn sc2 4 cylinder with double overhead cam with 89,000 miles. The car will start at times and run good for 2 or 3 minutes then it cut's out and run real rough, after a minute or two it will die and will start but will die at once. If you let is sit for 30-45 mins. It will start and have the same problems. I have put in new plugs but that has not done any good, any idea what the problem could be?
