93 saturn brakes

I have a 93 sl2. I replaced both front calipers, pads, brake hoses, and rotors. After bleeding the brake system, I cannot get the system to pressurize. The resevoir was not run dry and I've double checked the washer/gaskets. When I pump the brake pedal the engine stutters and sometimes it will stall.

What were the brake problems before you did the work? And how was the pedal then?

I had just bought the car and the right sides were ground down and grinding the rotors. I'm not sure how much pedal was there.
