1999 Other Saturn Models Bad shaking and vibrating

Yesterday on my way to work, I drove on a road that was very snow covered. Yesterday afternoon on my way home I noticed a very bad shaking and vibrating that occured over 50 mph. Could this be caused by snow and ice build up? Or is it something more serious?
