1996 Other Saturn Models crank but no start

I have a 1996 Saturn sc2 that will crank but wont start. I had a code for and EGR valve signal not in range. Ive checked the EGR but the valve is not stuck open or closed What could it be?

Disconnect the vacuum hose at the EGR-this will disable the EGR valve and will remain in closed position. The EGR will not prevent starting unless its opened creating a massive vacuum leak.

Disconnect a sparkplug wire or two and ground it to the engine and have helper crank engine over-do you have spark? This is where we stop till you comeback
