1995 Other Saturn Models clunks into reverse

Transmission problem
1995 Other Saturn Models 4 cyl Automatic 86,000 miles

my saturn has just recently began clunking into reverse. i put it in reverse and step on the gas and it clunks then begins to revers. i believe this means the transmision is going but can someone tell me for sure and also a ruff amount thanks.

Hi andzzle,

When gear shifting starts acting funny, it is a sign something is wrong. It could be just a simple fluid change problem or maybe worse of the lot, a required rebuilt.

Scan the trans for any fault codes to eliminate faulty solenoids or electricals.

How much would depend on the items to be done, ranging from a couple of hundreds to a few k.
