1993 Other Saturn Models warning electrical light

The electrical warning light came on the dash that looks like a battery.& The battery ended up dying. I thought it might be the alternator, but I checked the battery & it was low on water so I added some water to it & charged it up on a battery charger. I then put it back in the car & the car started & appears to hold a charge. But the warning light is still on so my question is whether the indicator needs to be reset somehow or if there is still a problem with the electrical system?

Im gonna give you some simple tests to do for your alternator and battery, also; bad connections or corroded connections will also cause the same problem, so you'll have to check those too. Your alternator may not be chargeing correctly so check out these tests:
