I was just given a 1991 Saturn SL. The retractable seat belts in the front are not working. The actual belt is there, but when you hook it up it does not retract with the door. The car will not pass a state inspection until I can get this fixed. Can you please tell me how I would diagnose the problem, or how to repair it. Thank you so much!

So both power seat belts are inop?On the passenger side foward kick panel right in front of the center console there is a panel that comes off under it there is a fuse box. There's a 25 amp fuse labeled like prest that's ur seat belt fuse turn ur key on u should have power to both sides of the fuse. When u have both seat belts inop it's usually a short and blown fuse or the passive restraint control module located under the center console. Pull up the ebrake then u will see the smaller acess panel remove that u will see the black box that's ur module. See if it's all sticky or looks like things have spilled all over thru the yrs also see if it's cracked. Let me know what u find.
