When I go to start the car, it tries to start but just dies. When i take the key out, it dings like the lights were left on and the security light(the car symbol with a lock on it) blinks. When this happens the car will not start unless I let it sit for aleast 2 hours, or I disconnect the battery and let it sit for about 10 mins. then it will usually start but I know that is not the right thing to do.

Sound's like you have a pass lock issue causing the car not to start. You will need to have your code's read in your body control module which most auto part store's can't do.You can try and see what code number's you come up with the auto part's store but they usually only can read engine and transmisson code's. if there not reading code's starting with a B and a 4 digit number then there not body code's.Let me know what code's you come up with. Also when it doesn't start does the gas gauge work temp gauge inside light's key less entry door lock's etc?If all that work then most likely it's probably a bad pass lock sensor.
