Hi there,

make sure that something hasn't crawled up onto the engine and died, Rats, mice even small cats love warm engines in winter. Not nice I know but I happens,

I feel silly asking, but how exactly am I to check for something like that getting into my engine? Just open the hood?

Also, I just put in another question about Electrical Issues ("Electrical Haunting!") on the same 2003 Saturn L200 - - - - it sure would be great if you could share your thoughts on that question as well. :D

P.S.
This is a FANTASTIC site for someone like me

Hi there,

If you have not yet looked under the bonnet, I think that you best do. Small animals can get into engines (not internally) just nest on the warm external bits, and can get caught up in belts and things when you start, something like the mother of all rat and mouse traps, have a look, if there is something there your nose will lead you to it. You know it might just be a plastic rubbish bag melted on to the exhaust underneath, it might not be that nasty.
