I just read a November 2008 blog about a Saturn owner who's wagon temp gauge and fuel gauge die while the car is running, as well as losing the powerlock function of the car. Mine has just started doing this as well. The car, if turned off in this state, will not restart and cannot be moved out of park. I have found that if I disconnect the battery and reconnect it the car will start again. Although this is only a temp fix.

Could be aproblem with the BCM, that is about the only thing the two have in common. Disconnecting the battery will reset it. Has the chek engine light ever come on? Might want to see if there are any stored BCM codes in the computers memory

What is a BCM? I first noticed that when this happens, the AC goes off, although the blower still works. For a while I just left the car in neutral with the parking break on, so I could restart. Only problem is the running lights stay on unless I shut it off in park.

Sorry, it is a body control module. It basically controls everything to do with the interior and some of the external lights
